Susan Sontag dies...

If you don't know who Susan Sontag is you should at least track down her "Notes on Camp" and "on the torture of others". Two pieces that span 40 years, and yet illustrate her social advocacy and commentary.

Her friendship with the late and fellow social adequate Edward Said had much to do with their common struggles with illness. In 2000 TALK magazine published their discussions on dealing with illness.

Sontag's death follows the passing of the great French philosopher Jacques Derrida (who passed away in October this year) who's social commentary also influenced many....
